Hair & Beauty

I really love natural beauty, but why not experiment fun looks to pair with that new great dress. #AmiRight

Trust me, I’m a stylist

“Dun dun dundun, dun dun dundun…” It’s wedding season!

Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to discuss the most important thing for a bride… her dress. Getting married is a special day for everyone. Whether it’s her first or her third, the bride deserves to feel special. I have been a bridal stylist for a little over a year now, and I’m excited to share with you some amazing tips from a stylist’s point of view that can help make shopping for “the one” easy-peezy (it’s about to get juicy).

Let’s get started!

MENTAL PREP: On your wedding day, you can shine as much as you want, and you are the boss because it’s YOUR DAY! OWN IT, GUUURL! Be positive and confident, have fun, and most importantly, have an open mind.  If you are a ballgown princess bride be open to trying on a mermaid. You’ll be surprised how great you can look in one 😉

RESEARCH: Having a visual reference is great way to give your stylist a starting point. Go through the store’s catalog or website and save your favorites. Even Pinterest is a huge help! It gives you, the bride, an idea of what to expect and not get overwhelmed when you walk into a store.

GUEST: I know we all want to share this amazing experience with everyone and don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by not including someone. However, having too many guests can bring a lot of opinions and it can get overwhelming for you and everyone else around you. Keep your party to a minimum. Seeing your dress is also a great surprise for your guest on the day of your wedding.

BUDGET: A wedding, big or small, can get very pricey. When you budget for a dress be sure to include the following: your dress (duh), undergarments, shoes, accessories, and the big one, alterations. A lot of brides tend to forget about alteration which can sometimes be as much of your dress or even more.

TIME: My answer is no, you are not crazy if you buy your dress a year in advance. A wedding dress can take weeks to get in. On top of that you also need time for alterations. You don’t want to wait till the last minute and not have time to fix any possible errors. Believe me, I’ve seen it and it’s not pretty.

Well there you have it folks! Feel free to drop down any questions below and let me know how your experience on finding ‘the one’ goes!

Everyday makeup essentials

Hey guys! I know its been a while but as we all know school has just begun as well as stress, deadlines, and homework leaving us no time for ourselves. So I decided to share with you my top 5 makeup items that can help give a little life to your face instead of walking in your class looking like a corpse. If you would like a video tutorial using these items please let me know in the comments. Also any video like a ‘back to school makeup’ or ‘quick and easy hairstyles’ I will try to do for you if that what you would like.

  1. BHcosmetics Contour and Blush Palette– I have been using this palette since Christmas and it has been amazing. This palette is really good for beginners especially if you are interested in learning a bit more about simple contour tricks. I know the dark bronzing color may seem a bit intimidating, but trust me it works great on a wide variety of skin tones. The blush colors are very pigmented and again works great with a lot of skin tones. As for the concealing colors and highlight, they are perfect for those who don’t want a full foundation coverage. Simply put concealer on your dark circles, acne, or any redness that you wish to cover. This can be found on their website or Urban Outfitters for about $12.
  2. L’OREAL Paris Hydrofuge Voluminous Carbon Black-This mascara is very “carbon black”. It gives your eye the illusion that you are also wearing eyeliner. Even if you don’t use this mascara there are others that you can simply apply several coats to give that same effect. This is a drugstore item so the prices may vary from $7-$9 depending where you get it from.
  3. NYX Micro Brow Pencil– As you can tell by the picture this has been my go to item everyday. I’ve never been a fan of coloring in my eyebrows until really recently I noticed it frames my face very well. This pencil is a great dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz. You can purchase this at a drugstore as well. I got mine for about $10 at Target and it has lasted me a good bit.
  4. Bobbi Brown Lipstick– Ok guys, I know we all can’t go and buy every single shade of lipsticks. HOWEVER, do not be ashamed of going into a beauty store and asking for a sample. They are a huge money saver and last you for a really good while. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of this lipstick, but it is a very nice, not too bold, pink shade that looks great with almost every summer outfit. (Optional) toping your lipstick with a nice lip gloss gives it a very good shiny finish if that’s what you’re into.
  5. Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner–  Now if you do have time to add some eyeliner I highly recommend this one for a long-lasting wear. If you are not comfortable using gel liner then I recommend using a pen liner or even pencil to put on your top lid. I’ve had this for a very long time so I believe the price for this one may be around $6 or $7 found at almost every drugstore.

The Color Purple

I decided to play around with my one and only Jaclyn Hill favorites pallet by Morphe Brushes. I fell in love with all the shades of purple that it had so I did this look and I LOVE it! I am also using a Benefit cosmetics lipgloss. Let me know if you guys want to see a tutorial on this. Also don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter @_famousmisfits

A Pop of Pink

Here is my attempt at recreating Manny Mua’s eye look using the Jaclyn Hill favorites pallet. I love the mix of pinks and the shimmering color on the lid which adds a good pop to the eye. I am also using a pink Bobbi Brown lipstick to complete the look.

Hazel + Bronze = 😍

So after months of waiting on the Jaclyn Hill Favorites palette by Morphe Brushes, I was finally able to put my hands on it. I decided to test out this bronze look on my best friend (which by the way has the most gorgeous hazel eyes ever!) and I loved it! A before and after is posted in my Instagram account (which you should totally go follow). Let me know if you have any request or questions in the comments or through email. 😘

❤️ Valentine’s Day Special ❤️

Hey there my sweet little misfits! As we all know Valentine’s Day is literally around the corner and that means we all have to look our best! However, not all of us can spend all day getting ready, or even worse, you just don’t know what to do and you’re wasting your time standing there looking at yourself. Well, here’s a quick and easy way to get ready for that special day with your special someone in like maybe……20 minutes 😉

First, apply your favorite liquid foundation evenly throughout your face.

Next, add some black eyeliner on your top lid and apply your favorite mascara.

Don't be afraid to add a bold color on your lips. For this occasion...wear red ;)

To add a finishing touch, use your straightener to curl your hair. I personally prefer the straightener because I feel it gives your hair a more natural and bouncier look.
